Today is the first day of the Monaco Yacht Show, and chances are when you’re reading this, I’m in the midst of an onboard tour of one megayacht or another. Starting with breakfast and a tour aboard Princess Mariana, then a slew of press conferences and other tour appointments, I plan to have a full notebook by day’s end.

Making their world debuts here at the show are Feadship’s Trident (above), the Moonen 124 (its largest to date), Royal Huisman’s Ethereal, CRN’s Blue Eyes, Lürssen’s Arkley, and many others. Even with the down global economy, all 100 berths for the show are reportedly booked.

In the on-land tents, I plan to take a good look at the scale model of Feadship’s latest concept project. The yard has kept a tight lid on details, so I don’t yet know what the styling looks like or whether advanced propulsion or other systems are part of the proposal. What I do know, though, is that based on the past few years’ concept projects—Feadship has presented one each year for at least three or four years now—I won’t be disappointed in its attempt to bring something new to the table.
